[Video Transcript] Sybase Unwired Platform is a mobile enterprise application platform that helps you extend you enterprise business data to mobile devices. Hi, I'm Brian Whitmarsh and I'm the product manager for Sybase Unwired Platform. I'd like to tell you how you can use the Sybase Unwired Platform to approach mobilization of your business as a strategic initiative instead of just a point solution. With the rapid adoption of mobility in the consumer space lots of organizations are looking to mobility as a way to improve the productivity of their workforces. The idea is simple but implementation can be tricky. Like many organizations you may have your enterprise data stored in a number of places, including databases, applications like SAP, files and various reports. The other side of the equation is a complex picture too. The mobile workers needing access to the data any time anywhere from a variety of different mobile devices. Now how can you connect them? Think of your organization as if it were a car. Your back end, your business data, that's your engine, your mobile workers are your wheels and you're trying to transfer the power of the engine to the wheels so they can turn. What do you need? A drive-train. That drive-train is Sybase Unwired Platform. Now if all you ever have is one back-end system needing to connect to one device type you probably wont see a lot of benefit in using a platform solution. But let's face it, very few it any enterprises today can guarantee this level of simplicity. Using a platform based approach to mobilizing your enterprise systems is the most effective way to provide reliable data access for a variety of mobile devices. Why? Because when you develop on a platform you get a common set of management and security tools for all devices and mobile apps. A platform also allows you to develop solutions for today and have confidence that you'll be able to respond quickly to whatever changes come along in the future. Now I'm talking about game changing new device types as well as changes in your back-end systems due to mergers, acquisitions or system upgrades. Further, using a mobile platform you'll get more reusable code components which will reduce the cost associated with custom app development, application updating and application scaling. Now of all the platform options in the market today Sybase Unwired Platform is the best solution for a number of reasons. First, it saves time and money by letting you leverage development tools you already know. Second, it offer heterogeneous backing integration with a variety of data sources and heterogeneous device support and third it provides a best in class mobile device management and security console that makes development and deployment and long term management much easier. Now let's break down each of these three main benefits in more detail. You can develop quickly and efficiently with Sybase Unwired Platform because you leverage the tools you already know and the expertise you already have. Sybase Unwired Platform integrates with the popular Eclipse development environment, and includes 4GL Tooling that greatly simplifies native application development. To build a native app you develop your core business logic once and then further customize to take full advantage of specific device capabilities. When you can reuse code across multiple devices you can save time and money. Another big advantage of Sybase Unwired Platform is that it easily links heterogeneous back end infrastructure with a variety of mobile devices. The Unwired Platform gives you a common method for looking at enterprise data whether it comes from databases, web services, and packaged apps like SAP or custom applications. Going back to car analogy, Sybase Unwired Platform translates power from the engine to the wheels. It doesn't care where the power comes from or where it goes. You can swap out the wheels or the engine while the delivery mechanism, the drive-train stays the same. To say that in technical terms, Sybase Unwired Platform offer both heterogeneous back-end integration and heterogeneous device support. It does this by bringing your data into mobile business objects or as we call them MBO's. MBO's are the innovative foundation of the Sybase Unwired Platform. The power of an MBO is that it takes complicated back-end integration and makes it simple.
