Physical Therapist Cindy Jarosch discusses the aquatic therapy of Amber, a young lady with fibromyalgia. This chronic condition causes her legs, upper neck, and hands to be very tight and stiff. Amber's mother is also a fibromyalgia sufferer, and she found that her daily pain and stiffness has been most manageable while utilizing warm water for exercise and rehabilitation. With this knowledge, she led her daughter to the HydroWorx pool at Children's Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Now Amber is most motivated by running on the underwater treadmill because she is unable to run on land.
I wish you'd show this to insurance companies. The only place with a hydro pool near us is the YMCA and they are approved by insurance companies for people with RA. However, not approved for fibromyalgia patients and I can't afford $69 a month for a membership.

I DID RESEARCH ON AQUATIC THERAPY FOR A COLLEGE CLASS......MY OWN INTERESTS, THE TOPIC I CHOSE TO USE FOR SPEECH. DID U KNOW CHRISTOPHER REEVES WAS USING THIS TYPE OF THERAPY AND WAS ACTUALLY WALKING AGAIN IN THE POOL? BABY STEPS BUT NONE THE LESS HE WAS WALKING.THIS THERAPY IS EXCELLENT FOR SO MANY AILMENTS, IT'S A SHAME THERE ARE NOT CENTERS ALL OVER SO EVERYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM IT.ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WITH JOINT REPLACEMENTS.
