his compelling film, which has been garnering critical acclaim wherever it shows, is a powerful documentary about Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar. Her talent emerged at the age of 15 when she wrote her first play, The Arbor, based on life on the tough estate where she lived. It was performed at the Royal Court and she was commissioned to write Rita, Sue and Bob Too, which was made into the film of the same name in 1986, directed by Alan Clarke. In THE ARBOR, director Clio Barnard uses local actors to lip-synch to interviews with Dunbar's family and friends, and this is intercut with archive footage and a live restaging of Dunbar's first play on the Bradshaw estate where she grew up. Don't miss this film, which has been called "One of the most moving and original British films of the year" (Wendy Ide, The Times).
This is my all time favorite movie! It makes me cry everytime I see it at filmsi.co.cc and I gain something from watching it each time. It makes me believe there really is everlasting love and everyone has a soul mate...

Trailers for this film never get the plot right. Bascially because it is about what you think it is about. I saw movie at filmsi.co.cc and I was impressed. no! the movie says the opposite... It says means that living forever is jus accept the fear of death, which isn't a good thing.

This looks like a really good film. I'm looking forward to watching it. I read about Andrea Dunbar's work in Max Stafford-Clarke's book about theatre.
