Hip hop was golden and still is - just because mainstream music giants keep it underground for our privileged ears nowadays doesn't mean it's dead. Maybe if more people with similar opinions to yours supported those artists instead of complaining and telling people hiphop is dead, then there wouldn't be this problem at all.

Hip hop caught on with me after I got out of high school. The 80's and 90's (before all the balling anf bling bling nonsense) were the two best periods. I love the Tribe's music; so laid back and chill.
