紐約長大的Mark Steiner驚覺九一一後紐約下城區音樂活動凋零，決定逃離紐約，開始浪蕩天涯，直至發現自己差不多滯留在挪威奧斯陸；於是他開始召集和編制樂手，加入自己建立的黑色沙­發及沼澤搖滾音樂聯盟。

2008年，Mark Steiner在澳洲巡迴表演得到迥響，其中幫忙Rowland S.Howard(The Birthday Party)暖場的那場表演，還跟低音結他手Rosie Westbrook(Mick Harvey Band)、結他手Cam Butler(Silver Ray)、鋼琴手Lilith Lane(Black Pony Express)、鼓手Peter Luscombe(Paul Kelly Band)及風琴手Steve Hesketh(Jet)等合作；他的新音樂專輯 "Broken" 更邀請這班澳洲頂尖音樂人襄助在墨爾本阿特蘭大錄音室灌錄部分歌曲。

Mark跟他的歐洲伴奏樂隊The Fallen Birds巡迴歐洲各地，包括挪威、紐約、巴黎、柏林、布魯塞爾、布拉格、哥本哈根、雷克雅維克及里斯本等。2009年，他會到更多地方表演，包括西班牙、丹麥、德國、英­國、美國、葡萄牙等等；並會在10月重訪澳洲宣傳繼 "Fallen Bird" 後的最新大碟 "Broken"，此專輯將由澳洲Z-Man Records發行。

Mark Steiner個人及其樂隊皆分別為許多不同樂手作暖場，有Michael Gira(前Swans成員)、Devendra Banhart, Madrugada、Rowland S.Howard、Kid Congo Powers & The Pink Monkey Birds及Ingird Olava。

Born and raised in New York City, this ex-pat fled the decaying music scene of Lower Manhattan in the wake of Sept 2001, only to find himself nearly stranded in Oslo, Norway. And so it was that he began to summon, weave and orchestrate his international confederacy of "lounge-noir" and "swamp-rock" musicians.

Mark Steiner played a well-received tour of Australia in September, 2008, including a support gig for Rowland S. Howard of The Birthday Party. Featured guest musicians included Rosie Westbrook (Mick Harvey band) on bass, Cam Butler (Silver Ray) on guitar, pianist Lilith Lane (Black Pony Express), percussionist Peter Luscombe (Paul Kelly band) and Steve Hesketh (Jet) on organ. Mark also managed to get this group of crème-de-la-crème Aussie musicians into Atlantis Sound Studios in Melbourne, to record some tracks for his new album, BROKEN.

Mark has also toured Europe with his European backing band, The Fallen Birds, as well as performed a number of solo and band gigs in his homeland Norway, as well as in New York City, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Prague, Copenhagen,

Reykjavik and Lisbon. He is planning and booking more shows for 2009, including in Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, The Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Iceland, the U.K., and the United States. This October, he will return to Australia to promote the release of BROKEN, the follow-up to Fallen Birds, scheduled for release in September of 2009 by Australian label Z-Man Records.

Mark Steiner has also played support, both solo and with his band, for many artist, including ex-Swans member Michael Gira (US), Devendra Banhart (US), Madrugada (N), Rowland S. Howard (AUS), Kid Congo Powers & the Pink Monkey Birds (US), Ingrid Olava (N).
