2001 Honda Civic LX Auto CYLINDER CAP REPLACEMENT. I thought i had a main seal leak. To my surprise and relief, it was only the cylinder head cam seal. The install is quick and easy and cost around $20 bucks. One of the cheapest oil leak fixes yet. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

  • Thanks for the video and info. Replaced this tonight on my Civic after trying my valve cover gaskets the first time and still having a leak. $9 and it's all fixed! Yay for no more oil leaks!

Mine was on my 2001 EX as well so I popped the EGR valve off with 2 12mm nuts and replaced the gasket at the same time ($8). An hour worth of work and a day to cure the sealant made this an easy fix.

  • @Pivvay Thanks for the additional input on the EX model. Just love a inexpensive fix!

  • your video saved me a costly repair, after watching this i did the work myself. thanks so much !

  • @asifineededaname Sweet! Glad it helped.

  • honda dealer can do those for $100 bucks and it will last miles you have right i think its worthed, just sharing

  • @kapampangan925 There is nothing they could do to prolong what i have already done. I followed up with the dealership on this one and they recommended the hondabond. This service can be done without it, but the hondabond is what makes this cap last for over 200,000 miles. =)

  • Is the cap in this video the same as the "Cam Plug". Honda dealership referred to the Cam Plug and all the searching I've done leads me to this cap. This is the first time I've seen or read about replacing it without taking off valve cover.

  • Awsome vid thanks man

  • Looks like a cam seal.

  • He does it again your like a the god to this car...I actually replace the valve cover seal and the leak was still coming from there I brought a cam seal because like 3 different shops told me that it was the problem but turns out they were wrong.. so I have a $14 seal I can't take back 2 autozone.. It was this lil black pice the whole time nice job... And keep shooting in HD it helps a lot....

  • @kapampangan925 Wish i had taken footage of the procedure itself. It really has nothing to it. Dealerships are good and should be the experts at what they do for Hondas; however, most of those dealerships are proud of their work and charge too much for even the simplest jobs.
