I was in the 92nd Oct 87 to 89 and miss the Hogs like an egg roll misses the bacon. Good weapons, good times, great deployments. Time marches on but the Hogs served us well. We used to launch at EOR with an Oooooblah salute the pilots enjoyed in honor or the Tasmanian Devil. We would have smoked the Soviet tank divisions. Glad we never got to prove that...

To further add to my comments...
After 82-655 left Bentwaters for Spangdahlem, it once again returned to the UK at the end of May 1993, wearing the 510th Fighter Squadron markings and the 'SP' (Spangdahlem) tailcode to attend the annual Mildenhall Air Fete as a static exhibit for the Air Fete weekend.
It was great to see it home again!

=( Makes me sad to hear. I hate when a beautiful aircraft is lost. The scream from their TF-34 Turbo Fan engine makes my skin crawl and goosebumps to form. My phrase for an A-10... hell from above son.. hell from above.

I miss seeing the a-10's fly past every day when I was younger, still my favourite plane...scary as hell up close from what i remember of the Bentwaters air show back in the 80's.

I live near the base and yesterday a warthog came out of nowhere and flew over Woodbridge. I have no idea where it came from or where it was going, maybe it was a ghost. Miss the A-10's.

I was at RAF Bentwaters from 1985-90, I worked in the Engine Shop(Propulsion Branch), I probably worked on the engines on this bird, it is great to see and hear them after all of these years:)

Cool video - I was stationed at Bentwaters/Woodbridge from 87-89. I probably painted this bird....

In 1985, at RAF Lakenheath, my load crew got "strafed" by a BW Hog. Scared the bejesus out of me, but fortunately there were no inspectors around to prounounce us dead or injured. I don't think anyone survives a strafing by a warthog.
What an amazing plane!
The A-10 shown in the video is 82-655. This was the 81st TFW CO's aircraft. It was also one of the last two A-10s to leave Bentwaters on 23rd March 1993.
It had been repainted in the grey scheme by the time it left Bentwaters to join the 52FW at Spangdahlem. Unfortunately it was lost during a training flight on 27/6/2001 near Nancy, France. Sadly the pilot was also lost with the aircraft.
