Neither the sequel to Space Oddity nor the prequel to Ziggy that many perceive this song to be we feel that it deserves to be appreciated very much in it's own right - not least for one of those all-time iconic 'Top of the Pops' moments which live on so long into popular memory.

This song of simple optimism seems as relevant now, in these times of austerity, natural disaster and international political turmoil, as it must have been in the early Seventies:
He told us not to blow it, 'cause he knows it's all worthwhile
Let all the Children boogie...

  • Thumbs up for an enthralling performance, both musically and visually. Most entertaining!

    Best wishes,

    Paddy

  • @oldfolkiepad

Thanks, Paddy. Glad you liked it. We try to have fun and it is always made that much better when others also enjoy it.

    All the best, tH2

  • Hey guys, this is absolutely fantastic. There is just so much happening here its amazing!! First off there is the fantastic singing and playing. Then the flashing lights, wavey effects, stars on the wall, funky dancing, great harmonies and don't forget the facepaint and the spinning camera!!! A thoroughly enjoyable performance all round. Great work

Thank you so much for your comments, we are chuffed to bits that you like it, we had a lot of fun (and facepaint!) making it!, We try to have fun and yet get in to the vibe of the song, to feel it is a major part we like to play and well done for getting all the props. Hopefully more to come, keep watching and likewise we look forward to more entertainment from yourselves too.

  • Hi Hawths. The mystery is over and the Bowie is revealed in all its glory. Another visual and melodic masterpiece.

This is a great choice and rendition, done in your own classy inimitable style. Fab singing and hip swinging LaH. Great falsetto singing and violin accompanying maestro LeH.

Love the swirly finish and the white wash chorus effects. I don't have them on my Moviemaker!

Many thanks, Nav. Still learning and developing our craft but appreciate all the support and encouragement - you still have a trick or two to teach us when it comes to video creation. Looking forward to your next contribution.

Have no fear, our canine buddies, the cat may get the cream but it is the dog that is the bees knees (or something like that?) well, you catch our drift anyway!! Thank you both for the compliments on our humble offering to the YouTube universe, we must pop down to Planet Dog when next in the vicinity, we will tone down on the cat references in future!

  • Terrrrufffffikkkk melodious brilliance, enough to light up a thousand stars around Planet Dog where the great and the good know quality music when they hear it. I'm digging it more than bones my human amigos!!!!

Not sure what that cat reference is for in the first verse though. Why has he got all the rock 'n roll? I thought you had it. How do we get it back? Cats are sneaky we'll have to be very careful. I hope things turn out OK.

  • @raffaport

Hi Raffles, Le-hips Hawthorne is thrilled by your comments, very flattering and encouraging, many thanks. Actually, we spent so long trying to get this right that our eyes go squizzy a little too!! You nearly spotted all of our 'details', well done!! Glad you like, what is next on your agenda? All the best, Les Hawthes

  • Wowee! What a great job, Hawths! Brilliant sound with a sexy folk-rock slant and when La Hawth's hips start going at the 1.40 mark, I'm a lost soul and something happens to my eyes. Lots more in here visually too, stars, tiaras, faeries (I used to live near the Fairy Bridge on the IOM) and not least the lightning flash adorning Le H's rugged visage. Voice and fiddle go so well together. I'm stunned guys; this is wonderful!
