Missing Footage from Swan Orientation

I received a mysterious package with an old film reel in it. It appears to be another copy of the Swan Orientation video that appeared in Lost 2.03. This copy however included several of the splices that were missing from the original shown by Desmond to Jack and Locke. Most significant is the mention of "David Woods" and something about "social utopian qualitative research." At a certain point a symbol appears on the screen. This is not included in the original, but it's red and looks like some kind of four legged bug on the screen. What could this mean?
