Fall festival at Maple Grove school tomorrow -"Sun Suburbs Today" webcast - Friday, Oct. 23, 2009

Cedar Island Elementary PTO will host the first Fall Festival on 2-4 p.m. tomorrow. Games and crafts will be geared toward children age 3 to third grade. An adult must accompany students who attend. Non-scary costumes are encouraged. The cost is $5 per child and includes one chance at each game booth, treats, prizes and craft activities.

The Brooklyn Park Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee's in Brooklyn Park. The breakfast costs $5 per person and all proceeds will help fund the department's equipment, public education and training needs.

The Brooklyn Center EDA has approved another property on Brooklyn Boulevard for acquisition as part of the Remove and Rebuild Program. It is anticipated the city will close on the property at the end of the month, with the purchasing it for $224,900. In addition to the purchase price, the city estimates the costs associated with the acquisition and demolition of the home on the site to be approximately $15,000.
