FRONTAL OFFSET TEST

OVERALL EVALUATION: Good
Structure/safety cage Injury measures Restraints/dummy kinematics
Head/neck Chest Leg/foot, left Leg/foot, right
Good Good Good Good Good Good

Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Lincoln LS was introduced in the 2000 model year and discontinued after the 2006 model year. All 2000-06 LS models manufactured after February 2000 include structural changes to improve occupant protection in frontal crashes (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door).

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has evaluated the crashworthiness of a 2000 LS with the structural changes in a 40 mph frontal offset crash test into a deformable barrier.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

  • guys chill go search the actual result of this crash test from IIHS

it was rated "good" across the board

on the website, it says that despite the outside appearance, the intrusion into the driver was minial, and any significant injury was unlikely

  • damn thats scary

  • oh my god i hav a ls now im scared to drive fast damn if i crash imma hav 2 get a new car

  • @mexicanpowerputo

That's exactly what I was trying to say!

  • @ncholewa11 lincoln ls came out in 2000 or something like that but lexus has had the ls400 cars since the early 90's ..ls is just a term to describe a luxury sedan it shouldnt be exclusive to one automaker its like ''gt'' or even ''4x4''

  • @09feb1992 i had 1 of these cars which was just wreaked december 11th. it took a 60mph hit to the driver side just fine and i walked away without a scratch while flattening the front of the other car its perfectly safe it got 4 and 5 star crash ratings

  • @bergsteinlife

I just realized that it was actually that the Lexus LS has #s after and lincoln does not which is more of what the law suite was about. They made a deal because Toyota who owns Lexus was going to name there truck the f150 something so they both compromised. LS means luxury sedan not that much to steal there.
