My two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Gunner and Isabella doing basic training for mental stimulation. They are both clicker trained dogs.

  • My Rhodesian Ridgeback just turned 1 year old and she has been trained with sit, stay, wait, lay down and come. But whenever we take her walking we let her off her leash to run in the field but she will start running and when we call her she will ignore us or else keep running. Do you have any tips? Will clicker training her help with that?

  • @GodIsLove207 there's a lot you can do. First if you let her off leash and you KNOW she's not going to respond - DONT call her. You are simply making your cue irrelevant. Do confined foundation work - then long-line work. New CUE paired up with something very high value+game of chase you down+favorite toy. Find a good clicker training to help you.

  • im considering getting a Ridgeback, any advice for me?

  • Look for a good breeder or check out a Ridgeback Rescue - would this be your first dog? if so lots to learn - get involved in positive training - check health issues

  • Hey I also hav a approx 3 year old Ridgeback..! So is it possible to train him..?? I thought that when he ages he couldnt be trained; he must be trained when hez a puppy..! So will it be able to trian ma Rishi..?

  • You can train any dog. You just have to make training worth it to them and fun. You can do a search on youtube for " clicker training rhodesian ridgeback" because there's a few of us doing great things with our RR.

  • Isn't clicker training great! Works and is also so much fun for dog and owner. Congrats!

  • I'm a professional trainer but here I'm just having fun with my dogs.

  • Part of training is finding what really motivates your dog and what makes training fun for them. They aren't into playing with toys so I'm left with using treats. With that said, the goal is to fade out the treats so they aren't on me or near the training environment.
