I guess I was really a folkie since the late 50s. Oh, I enjoyed rock but it's telling that the very first LP I bought was "Best of the Kingston Trio" when they still had much more music to offer. Actually, I still have that album. Gale was one of the best folk singers from that era. I loved that song in high school and loved it again in the early 70s courtsey of the US Army travel office.
This song grabs like little else. First heard it in the early mid 60's. Lived it twice in the later 60's and early 70's thanks to Unkle Sam and VietNam.
She had a five year recording career. With that voice she should be singing jazz standards today in nyny.
