The Office of Financial Research, created by the Dodd-Frank Act, has the authority -- backed up by subpoena power -- to collect any information it deems necessary from any "financial company." The unprecedented access the OFR will have to personal and corporate financial data makes it a target rich environment for hackers and raises serious concerns about the unaccountable over-reach of the federal government in the lives of its citizens.

The poor people who brought our country to it's financial knees. I feel so sorry for them.

At least you can see who is funding the GOP.

Big mistake, GOP, making the OFR the subject of a fear-mongering campaign ! Whose "bright idea " was this ?

"Personal information" is not at stake -- it is financial institutions, not individuals, that would be the subject of OFR data reporting.

Existing agencies already have the same powers of supervision and subpoena. This scare campaign is disingenuous and just plain knuckle-headed.

The GOP is only embarrassing itself by this thoughtless hyperbole.

Absolute hogwash. "The surest sign that you are losing an argument is when you resort to making things up."

And this video is a falsehood from start to finish, part of the Republican effort, at the behest of their Wall Street masters, to scare the public. Yeah, let's not have any banking regulators, because that worked so well the last time.
