When God created the Autistic Child.

I loved this. Made me think about why the numbers with autism are increasing. I do believe in God and maybe He does know our world needs more. Our world certainly needs to learn an ability to understand others and get along and maybe He's watching for who can do that. All levels of abilities, but I do believe each and every one is here for a reason. I've worked to help, but don't live with an autistic child. Can't imagine how hard that is, but glad to see those finding the blessings.

@innocentinsanity1101 I hardly think I 'attacked' her. I asked the question 'why' and she answered it (because of a poem she'd read). Then I simply stated my position as to why 'I' don't need a celestial dictator in my life (not belittling her view). This is typical of 'believers'. A question is posed and all of a sudden your 'under attack'! You like she has used the reference and I don't. I'm don't feel the need to say to you 'why is it that you agree'? Keep 'your God'.

@Raidmasterprod Good insight and I would have to agree with that.

@vletsskm1 I understand that she is agnostic but, I myself, am christian and like the fact that God was added into the equation because, I believe that God did make children with autism special. I understand that you may have no belief but, why is it that you have to attack someone for having used God to make a very powerful point? She didn't say anything to put down your beliefs.

"Do not cry for the child it will never be... Love the incredible creature it already is" Love it...

I REALLY needed to see this today! (And IMO God knew that too...so He brought me in path with it!) Thank you for making it! I'm sorry some people can't see the beauty in it or their children!
I agree with the sentiment you imply but why did you have to add god to the equation? The effect my child has had on me in terms of changing my behaviour and thought processes has come about due to our time and interactions together. It is hard work but at the same time infinitely rewarding. I am a devout anti-theist and there is no requirement for a supernatural dictator to be involved in our lives in order to make them what they are. Natural primate care and compassion is more than enough.

@vletsskm1 God is only in there because I made this story in reaction to a poem about God giving mothers extra capabilities. I'm agnostic myself.

Sadly, I think this only applies to the more higher-functioning children on the spectrum. As the mother of a child with more severe limitations it actually made me feel worse!

@AH5502 I'm sorry, that was not my intention!
You are right that this does not apply to all children with autism. They definately need at least an average IQ (100 and up) to function 'pretty normal'.
