Wings and a stabilizer are used to "stabilize" a plane where wind resistance is present. In a vacuum there is no wind resistance.

Why would a race of super beings hide from us? What threat could we possibly pose to a race that could cross light years?

Are you familiar with Occam's Razor?

The simplest explanation will be the most plausible until evidence is presented to prove it false.
