I do prefer Maisky here, this seems very rushed. I can't actually enjoy this, because he is always pressing forward.

@nwick440 ....interesting opinion. I think it's taken abit slower as well, but Rostropovich is truely a gem as well

The Bach Cello Suites are wonderful. I had a masterclass a few years back on the Prelude to Suite 2, it was long and brutal but I learned a great deal. I learned that while the suites are great to perform, and wonderful for an audience. Recent findings on Bach suggest that these suites were written to be played in private, with no audience. This also explains the wonderful variety of ways one can play these movements.

i think he took it way to fast but thats just my opinion.

Rostropovich was a high cello professional which played Bach without emotions or impurities... Clean structure of music offered in a quiet and logical manner.

Además, fue premio Príncipe de Asturias de la Concordia de 1997, compartido con el violinista británico Yehudi Menuhin, por su activismo político, que completaba con su actividad solidaria. Era padre de dos hijos y creó con su mujer una fundación a favor de los niños y era representante especial del programa de la ONU para la lucha contra el SIDA. Fallecio el 27 de abril de 2007 a los 80 años. Alguien que merece ser recordado por siempre..
