If you have a 3" disk based computer, you only have to know the belt it to be changed ... most of those computers (Amstrad, likely) work perfectly after 20+ year beside this.

-
just replace the belt on the floppy drive and you will be fine :)

My PCW 8256 is doing just the same thing, so I've bought a new drive belt. Are there any pointers you can give me on fitting it? Thanks :)

@P5ychoFox be careful of screen implosion, and the belt is hidden under lots of little fiddly nails and circuit boards. I just tried being delicate, and it worked well.

Sorry to agree with the sheeple but theyre right, i just dusted my CPC6128 off n it wouldnt load the disks. Took it apart and took the 3inch disc drive out, guess what...the belt was dissintegrated and streching and snapped, swapped it with the belt off the tape deck on Spectrum zx +2 ad now it works great, very easy fix, or it was on my cpc anyways...

change the rubber drive belt for the disk-drive. This is a common problem for all machines with 3"-drives as they get old. Quite easy to fix
