Created by Leiji Matsumoto and was also dubbed as part of the force five lineup. I liked this series as much as Getter Robo, though the beginning is pretty slow (focusing on mostly training the pilot cantidates for Danguard Ace, introducing the main characters and their conflicts. Don't even expect to see Danguard completed (and even the satellizer only makes a brief appearance. Mostly just Dan's Fighter and Takuma/Windstars' fighter jet.
I HAD TO ENCODE THIS TO WMV SINCE I'M HAVING PROBLEMS UPLOADING DIRECT TO YOUTUBE USING MY NORMAL METHOD SO APOLOGIES ABOUT THE QUALITY. this was from robonations anyways, but i have some dubbed ones on vhs ive had for ages, that need to be uploaded whenever. was the episode compilation that was labeled as a movie)
Empire Strikes Back -> The shady character behind the mask is really the disgraced father of the hero. Both are fighter pilots.
Top Gun -> The hero, a fighter pilot, living in the shadow of his disgraced father, also a fighter pilot.
Americans sure love their Japanese cartoons, to write the stories into their movies.

Where can we watch the English dub that was shown in Asia? I've only found one episode of the nonForce5 English dub. Unlike Jim Terry the other older English dub was for every episode, not just 26eps. Jim Terry never even dubbed the 1st episode.

@August138 I wasnt aware of that. thanks

@Forevernight That's because it's the same character designer, Leiji Matsumoto, who also created STAR ZINGER, GALAXY EXPRESS 999 and SPACE PIRATE: CAPTAIN HARLOCK, to name but a few.

@KeepJesusFirst The "accurate English dub" of MAZINGER Z was commissioned by Toei Animation and produced by M.&M. Communications Inc. (a subsidiary of MK Company). The English dubbing was recorded at Commercial Recording in Honolulu, Hawaii and was produced by Seito "Tom" Ikeda and Dana Ikeda. The Technical Advisor was Koji Tomita and translation was handled by May Nozoe. According to some sources, only 29 episodes were dubbed by M.&M. Communications.

@iwasanangryyoungman Yes, while Leiji Matsumoto is know for his space operas he has worked on other genres like giant robot, western, world war 2, and slice of life. He even created an erotic manga called Sexaroid. Danguard Ace is Leiji Matsumoto's only incursion into the giant robot genre that I know about.
