Homemade apple sauce for $15 a bushel and 2 1/2 hrs of work equals 16.5 quarts of canned sauce. It was a first time project, but did enjoy it. Any jars that don't seal could easily be frozen in a freezer bag for future use.

  • So did you use a pressure cooker or a water bath? Sorry if I missed it.

  • @Celestyal22 I used a pressure cooker. I prefer that over the water bath more for the time factor.

  • Very nice stove you're working with.

    Might I suggest a nice raw applesauce next time, as you will retain all the vital nutrients of the apples.

    Love =]

  • Thanks.. I'm sure that would be much healthier. I tend to do more canning than anything else for the lack of a chest freezer. Hopefully I'll get one soon :)

  • I think you might be a lttle jealous there, Jason! Must be hard being the baby in the family! :(

  • Mmmm Applesauce! That apple peeler looks hella fun! hehe

  • good first effort try a little cinnamon and nutmeg next time.

  • The apple peeler/core remover rig was nice!

    The family went apple picking about a week ago and ended up picking 55lbs. of apples. We've made everything under the sun that contains apples and we still have some left over.

    Like you said, good project to do on a rainy day.
