This video was produced by Mike Ancheta, a cook at the HEI Le Meridien hotel in San Francisco and a member of the Union Organizing Committee at his hotel.
He along with his coworkers have been leading the struggle for a card check agreement at the hotel since June of 2008. His video captures the intensity of their struggle and focuses on how workers have been actively building solidarity with students at universities across the country. Many of these students belong to universities that invest in the HEI corporation.
One day after this video was first shown publicly, Mike was "laid off" from his job along with two other members of the Union Organizing Committee and several other workers, many of which had over 20 years of service at the hotel.
way to go! Bravo to the socially conscious students who are standing behind workers struggling in a different state. Very moving to hear your words. To the men & women working at the HEI Le Meridian in San Francisco... we will fight together for respect and fair treatment on the job.... One Day Longer!!!!
