AMAZING goal at the end!

A few clips of Cardiff City FC from 1969/70/71 including the 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in 1971. Mainly featuring Peter King.

King began his career at his hometown team Worcester City before being spotted by Cardiff City and signing for the club in 1960. He made his league debut in October 1961 against Burnley as a right winger.
He scored his only career league hattrick the following season during a 6-1 defeat of Middlesbrough and he became the first player to score for the club in European competition when he found the net during the home leg of a tie against Danish side Esbjerg fB.
He was a vital member of the side for the following few seasons, including finishing as top scorer during the 1967-68 season with 18 gaols. After spending thirteen seasons at Cardiff he was forced to quit the game at the age of thirty-one after suffering an achilles tendon injury.
He remains 6th in The Bluebird's all time leading goalscorers table with 89 goals from 431 appearances.

  • My favourite volley ever at the nd there

  • I have seen some good goals but that is the very best volley I have ever seen!

  • R.I.P brian :)

  • King's incredible volley is the best goal ever scored at Ninian Park

  • Real Madrid in red!!! Really bizarre, they looked like Atletico Madrid players dressing away kits :-)

  • @davidgbarron .. the booking was for retaliation. If you watch carefully, Peter king has a very slight kick at the defender, maybe not worthy of a booking but thats what it was for.

  • I was behind the goal that day and watched it all the way. I don't think I've seen it since. Brilliant goal, thanks for posting!

  • I've seen some irrational decisions watching football, but that booking was deeply weird, if it was a foul committed, then it should have been a free kick to Real Madrid.
