Hallicrafters S-40A Re-Rebuild

Not being a particularly rare or sought-after set, and being in a state of filth, grime, and developing rust- I decided to have my way with it and do a little custom work.
I'm basically finishing what I started in 2007 when I restored the electronics inside.
Also I neglected to mention I have new decals on the way from RadioDaze, because the old ones were worn way down.

Now, what are you going to do with the labeling? I think there's someone who does a complete set of hallicrafters decals that are very close to the original. BTW, that chassis positively gleams.

That is an amazing job on the chasis. Mother's polish. I'll have to look that up. Are you doing it by hand or by a buffing wheel of some sort? This set should be a real looker and performer when finished. We often work on sets that have just come our way, and not exactly sought after. Great post.

Wow! Nice, I love restoration. I hope retrochad gets a look at this and takes a lesson. I love his videos, but it disturbs me at how grungy his equipment is even after he has repaired it. No offence retrochad, just my button on things being perfectly clean.
