Bush is mesmerized by a common grocery store checkout scanner in 1992. This was LONG after scanners were introduced in 1980. "Some say" this is an "urban legend," but you decide. Sorry, source file was only 160x120, not too sharp.

  • Not legend, I remember how amazed he was. Just like Hillary Clinton now - can't pump gas and can't use a coffee maker in a 7-11

  • Well, my sister has a Ph.D. but cannot operate an ATM or a tollbooth. However, unlike Bush I and that checkout line, she knows they exist.

Bush II, despite months of flash card drills with Rove, called Greeks Grecians, Kosovars Kosovonians, and just recently, despite years of OJT at our expense, called Australian troops Austrians.

Speaking of gas, he also did not know gas had gone over $4/gallon in places.

  • You have to look at it from this perspective. Scanners were introduced in 1980 as you say in the description. Bush became vice president in 1980. How often do you see vice presidents in the local supermarket? It could possibly be the first time he'd ever seen one.

  • @armadilloze fuck you

  • George, you damned liberal elitist!

  • Shows you just how out of touch Bush was (and probably other politicos too).

  • Bush was a multi millionaire. Shopping was done by "his people."

He was certainly out of touch w/ ordinary people.

Being rich and spending years in Washinton pretty much insure that.

Certainly smarter and more capable than his son.

  • Bravo!

  • Every spoon fed yuppie I've ever known can't even change their oil

  • Damaged BARCODES. An item can be in perfect condition, but the barcode can get messed up, or print wrong, or a bit of it peeled off.

But the guy is still a dumbus.
