The champ isn't a suitable plane for outdoor flight IMO. Its just too small and too easily effected by the wind. Its great for indoor flight though.
I think most people will be happier with a hawk sky types, considering its essentially in the same price range. The hawk sky, sky surfer, bixler are all easy to repair.

The best "glider"/ beginner I have seen that is both good on performance and great on price is the Banana Hobby Sky Surfer. I t is pretty much a hawk sky...

First plane i flew was a Zagi many years ago which was awesome. Fisrt powered was hobbyzone champ and im in the minority here but personally i thought it sucked, slightest breeze and you couldnt do anything with it. Sold it and got an axn floater jet which is amazing!!! It can handle a breeze, glides really well and you can fly it reasonably slow and also has some speed if you want to zip it around the field
