Elvis has always been my favorite singer. The lord blessed him with the most beautiful voice. He could sing anything and it sounded great. Not many can say that.

@volleeballchk So Very Sorry About Your Grandfather. And I Just Have To Say That Elvis Was A GREAT Performer. Your Grandfather Had EXCELLENT Tastes. :-)

His music was best when he gave credit to the real King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, Jesus the Christ. This song has always been my favorite version of the song by my favorite singer of the song. Thank you so much for making my Sunday EVEN BETTER! May Christ Jesus bless your home.

This song is about redemption: about overcoming harsh life and conquering the elements of it. It is full of metaphors 'changed from this creature that I am' and 'the night is as dark as the sea' mean more then their literal, spoken meaning.
My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2001 and died in 2002. He requested this song for his funeral, sang by his nephew.
