A demo to show why making a continuous loop of my magnetic rail will not produce a continuous motion machine. Sorry for the poor sound.

  • Is it possible to have the ball travel up the magnetic track and fall off the end? There by gaining kinetic energy. Once the ball falls off the end can it fall into a non magnetic race way that directs it back to the start of the magnetic track, using gravity.

    If this were done we would have a perpetual motion machine.

    If multiple balls were in play we could extract energy from their fall in the race way back to the start of the magnetic track, an over unity perpetual motion machine.

  • I have such a design in progress... I'll post here when it's finished.

  • Yes that would work but getting the ball to release at the end is the hard bit.

  • To the second 0:17 of the tape the little ball acquires kinetic energy from the attraction with the first magnet of the ramp. It will surrender her to all the remainders magnets of the ramp. In the round circuit it cannot work because ended the kinetic energy acquired during the throwing, it stops.

  • put more magnets on the disc with the north poles facing down and then put magnets on the table exactly under the magnets on the disc but these magnets on the table face there poles so that it pushes the disc up once its floating...you see those original magnets you had on the disc well use a seperate magnet to push the disc from the side , it should make the disc spin

  • if the magnetic field has the power to pull it up the ramp against gravity then gravity does not have teh power to pull it away from the magnetic field.

    To release the ball at the end,, its quite simple, as Manitobah said, when u add lots of balls, the second one hits the first one that is "stuck" on top, releasing it. Maybe im wrong, but I had the same idea as Manitobah. Extracting the Kinectic Energy gained from the Gravitational Energy (Height) and when the ball meets the bottom again, put the ball on its way back to the magnets to get her up again., as a loop.

  • What would happen if you make a frame holding say 3 balls at 120 degrees apart, and hovered that frame (which would need a bearing I'd say) above the magnets. That way, theoretically, one ball will reach the 'apex' while the other 2 are still continuing their journey, the momentum of the 3 plus the forward magnetic attraction of the 2 not yet at the apex, should push the 1 that is at the apex off, allowing the next magnet to come in behind, and result in a perpetual loop. Hope it works.
