  • God she was unattractive (Wallis) - certainly 'not too thin' (nor too rich!) by the looks of things, thank God he was never King - what a weak, pathetic individual. Long live the Queen!

  • Well imagine it - an American as queen, what on earth would the Canadians have thought ?

  • How ironic, that Mrs Simpson was blamed for the whole affair, when in reality she saved the British people from having a disastrous King. Even the Prime Minister hated him long before she appeared, and wished he might fall off his horse and break his neck.

  • Such a sweet fascist couple!!

  • For people who never met this woman nor Edward and your sole information about them is primarily nothing more than tabloid journalism and the snide, petty gossip gathered over the decades- you all sure do love making comments as if you knew them first hand and were there every step of the way. You're nothing more than childish, immature, borish, stiff shirted sycophants. Why is her accent so surprising? Edward was British and after being with him for so many years it's not that surprising.

  • As soon as the death of a monarch is announced, their successor is proclaimed King or Queen. However their actual Coronation generally follows in the next twelve months. Queen Elizabeth was proclaimed Queen immediately on the death of her father in 1952 and became referred to as Queen from that say. She was actually crowned in 1953. Edward's situation was of course the same. He was proclaimed King immediately following his father's death but abdicated before being crowned. Btw to most English p

  • @JamIndia5 He actually was king.....for about 11 months in 1936 as Edward VIII, until he abdicated.

  • I'd love to see the whole documentary and I can't understand why it isn't available. Very frustrating!

  • Apparently Wallis felt trapped and was not in love with Edward. There was a documentary recently where some of her undiscovered letters to her ex husband were found. She never wanted to marry Edward - it had all got out of hand! She found him needy and childish and wished the whole thing had never happened.

  • I think that there were perfect for each other. True Love, I guess.

If the Government really loathed Camilla, then they could have advised the Queen not to consent to the marriage. However, unlike Wallis, there's little likelihood that Camilla will dump Charles or otherwise become tabloid fodder. With Wallis, one divorce was bad, two much worse, and leading the life of a hard-partying socialite the final straw.

  • fuck all the haters the fact is they loved each other very much
