You can take other peoples vehicles ala GTA style. They wont be pissed though if you have high morale. And sometimes a Guerrilla will drive up to you and give you his/her vehicle.
Make a hard save once in awhile. I know some people just use only autosave for everything. But its always best to have a hard save made, even for a console game. Just to be safe.
