  • Recumbents are great for down hill, straights and partial inclines, but serious hills, they fail miserably. My $150US department store mountain bike is superior at going up hills compared to my $2100US Bachetta Corsa. Probably has to do with the ability to transfer your body weight to the pedals whereas that is not possible on a recumbent.

  • Speeds above 20kmh i'm faster, below 15kmh i'm about 10% slower than upright.

  • Ah now I see how you got that camera angle without the usual head movement. The cam is mounted on a long arm off the back of the seat.

Mark is that a home made mount? It seems pretty vibration free.

  • No, the Panasonic FZ5 is directly mounted on the top of a Petzl Ecrin Roc helmet

  • okay cheers, pretty good quality vid.

so what is the arm coming off the seat then?

  • It's the tube of the Camelbak, this one is into the black bag under the seat.

  • @ultinium Why not adjust your seat or convert your steering? You should be able to press against the seat hard during climbs, and pull hard on the pedals (with SPD etc), if you have stable steering bars which you can brace against.

  • Yeah, me too. On my Performer High Racer I'm 10-15% slower on ascends compared to my road bike. I think frame rigidity, undeveloped "bent muscles" and also additional weight (~5kg) explain it all.

  • whats wrong with the music? Just cause a girl sings you freak out... lol... what are you 8 years old?

  • Good video, but Evanencence?

    Are you serious?

  • good, better (urs) best: don't go over the cliff at all.... lol!

  • COOL, ordered a recumbent. A downhill run in the La Sals is called "The Blue Comet because it is super steep. Hope to video a run down that.

  • Awesome, I hope you enjoy the bike. There were most certainly a lot of awkward moments when I was trying to figure out how to ride the Corsa. The Giro 20 will likely be a little easier to get the hang of, not to mention, likely more comfortable on those occasional crappy roads we all have to traverse sometimes. Goodluck;)

  • Thanks again for the advise. I ended up buying the giro 20.

  • niece try, but i have high-speed (69kmph) on self-maded recumbent! :P she (my recumbent is a woman) weights ~20kg, has underseat bar and seven speed drivetrain with max 44front/11rear cassette :P but my new recumbent will be fully from aluminium and weight 5 kg less than actually :P and i will try brake my record then:P

you should make or buy a aerodynamics components if you want ride faster:P when i'was going 69kmph, i had eyes full of tears :P

    greetings,

wide ways for recumbent bikers :P

    bej

  • Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked about the tire pressure is because my giant cypress lx always felt sluggish and inefficient. One day I decided to go from 60psi to 85 and wow. That made all the difference. My pump has a gauge built in but I would recommend a separate automotive gauge for better accuracy.
