Sacred Harp, or shape note singing is a form of religious music going back centuries in the United States and is still practiced today. The name shape note singing indicates the symbols that represent how the different words are to be sung. A simple way of letting the whole congregation join in the worship.

Even though I am not a religious man myself, quite the opposite infact, i can still recognize the tremendous infuences religious music have had on basically all music we hear today.

This is the good stuff peeps, the beginning.

There's a brilliant documentary out there called "Awake my Soul" from which this song is picked. Everyone should watch it and buy the soundtrack.
