English Out There™ is a unique programme where students take the language learned in class "out there" into Swansea.
The course is task-based, and focuses on speaking and listening. The aim is for you to use natural language with real people, and really helps build your confidence speaking English in real-life situations.
Each lesson is split into three stages:
Stage 1 - Language Input
In the classroom, a task is set by your teacher with clear aims and objectives; useful language, vocabulary and phrases are introduced
Stage 2 - 'Out There' Activity
You and your class go to a venue in Swansea, where you split into small groups and complete the task entirely in English. During this time, your teacher will be walking around, assisting you with the task but also helping you gain more confidence with your language skills.
Stage 3 -- Feedback
Your class meet up again, and your teacher conducts a feedback session. Here, you will discuss if the task was successful or not; any language you were missing; how it could be improved and any cultural points that came up.
Flip Video During the English Out There sessions, you will have the opportunity to use Flip Video. This is an interactive and fun option, where you and your friends video each other and the people you talk to on Flip Video camcorders. This is a great chance to look at your performance from an outside point-of-view, allowing you to discuss the task with the group, assess your own performance and how it could be improved, and have lots of fun at the same time!
