This batch consisted of 50% recycled content 70-75-duro FKM material. The FKM Micropowder was prepared from the same compound. An additional 1% of the powder weight in additional curative was added to the batch to improve properties.
The resulting batch is processable, and has the same heat and fluid resistant properties as the contro/no recycled content, however, due to its higher viscosity, the technique is limited to molding situations such as sheet or compression molding which does not require a lot of mold flow.
Samples of FKM containing up to 85% Fluoroelastomer Micropowder have passed the fuel permeability testing, as tested by a famous automotive manufacturer, which says that the sample cures into an acceptable slab with no voids.
