I don`t know anything about American Olympic Lifting, but who could be more qualified for writing a book about lifting shit up from the floor than a guy named Newton? He is right about the part about pulling yourself under the bar, by the way.
@bigislander72 Harvey Newtown's book SUCKS! Americans suck at Olympic Lifting. We are the worse in the world at Oly Lifting. With the exception of the great Tommy Kono, NO American born Olympic Lifting coach should be writing books or doing seminars. For example - in Newton's book, he mentions that one needs to pull themselves under the bar. Common sense will tell you that, unless your damn feet are nailed to the floor, there is no way in hell you can pull yourself under the bar.
@dharkilla41 Well its more his hips are moving faster then his shoulders. If you watch his shoulders are moving on a pivot. Hips and legs straighten up then his shoulders move.
Do you pull that bar that high for snatch pulls as well? Just got through reading "Explosive Lifting for Sports" by Harvey Newton. The book describes the clean pull only going up to the navel area and snatch pull to the sternum. Of course there more than one legitimate learning methdology.
