What the lady says from 7:58-8:19 is very true and it not only applies to the Mexican goverent but to the American goverment as well. The war on drugs is not a war to be won the goverment wants the war to be SUBSTAINED which means the USA govermen racks in Billions of dollars, arming both sides of the conflict while giving themselves draconian police powers to limit your civil libertis in this "war on drugs".

Their economy was in ruins because of previous costly wars and a bad curropt government. They had some of the poorest infrastructure, no high rise buildings, no major city that was known at a world status. Mexico on the other hand has all that. They have a powerful economy and a strong infrastructure Mexico is not a shithole , it may be a very dangerous place but not a shithole
