  • Chris, do you ever find that purfling weakens the joint between the soundboard and the sides? It may even strengthen it??? It seems as though you glue on the top, then cut into the small bit of wood you just joined.... Maybe a dumb question? Thanks in advance.

  • @BilloT5 Well if it does then they 've been screwing it up for over 150 years! : D

I generally try and not cut into the lining. It's been discussed that the type of binding you have can have an effect on the tone as well. Especially if it's loose it will effect the voicing of the top. But that is a heavy subject and many thoughts on it and debates. Visit the forums and read up on it. That's how I've learned it so far.

  • Do the CA fumes bother you?

Maybe I'm just sensative, but that much CA use would burn my eyes and nose.

  • Good idea to wear a respirator and have ventilation. Always have eye protection when using CA. But the fumes usually don't bother me. If they start to then it's donning the respirator.
