Veteran's Day Pajama Story Time Reading at the Kadena Library. Bascially? The Marines were there giving their time. VFW PAC Post 9723, members came too.
Kadena Library's Pajama Story Time - Theme Remembering Veterans Students attending the "Pajama Story Time," learned that Veteran's Day honors the men and women who have served or is serving in the United States armed services. Students also learned that Veteran's Day is celebrated on the 11 month of the 11 day, the same day the Armistice was signed in 1918, ending the fighting in World War I.
Students had the opportunity to listen to stories from a retired veteran and military members currently serving their country.
Students also had an opportunity to listen to several people in uniform representing the Marines, Air Force and the Army. Each person told the children what joining the military meant to them and they talked about their job in the military. They also told the children how proud they are to be in the military to help to protect America.
Children were given time to make a card for their favorite veteran. They colored worksheets of the American flag and could also see how many words they could make from the word "V e t e r a n". POW / MIA Table was set for the missing.
Major Brown is a Literacy Support Specialist at Kadena Elementary School. This is her third year participating and organizing the Pajama Veteran's Day Story Time at the Kadena Base Library.
