Sullivan Ballou (March 28, 1829 July 28, 1861), was a lawyer, politician, and major in the United States Army. He is best remembered for the eloquent letter (seen here as interpreted by the 1726 roommate repertory.) he wrote to his wife a week before he and his Rhode Island militia fought in the First Battle of Bull Run.

  • I figured it to be pretty goofy, but, you know... limbs.... that's brutal.

  • whats wrong with you this is the most ignorant and disrespectful thing i have seen how can you make fun of some one who loved his wife with such passion like he did an wrote something you couldnt out do in your lifetime. He fought in one of the bloodiest wars ever fought and you just gave a big slap in the face to all who fought in that war,all who suffered in army hospitals waiting to get their limbs cut off or seeing others suffer that same fate. How disrespectful can you be?
