For recording IMO if you got a Mac use logic. if not i think Adobe Audition is decent.

regroove is okay..but are people really too lazy to actually go in, hand program the drums, and just move the notes around on/off the grid slightly? that way you get them just the way you want them without all these swing presets and stuff.

that's true. and I'm a big fan of what you speak (we've already decided we're alike in all ways. lol) but its also a good little tool to be used.
