This is a newbies early journey into the world of Buchla and the sonic landscapes of the 259e Complex Waveform Generator. That is the previously sold module, the current 259e is called Twisted Waveform generator and has a few differences. I try a few different things and try to show a few cool settings I've found. Hope you like it!

The oscilloscope is out of sync on purpose because I didn't want to risk the odd chance of copyright violations.

  • Hello, man! One such generator is monophonic, right? So, for buchla's polyphony you need several items?

  • @srettab Well strictly speaking there's two oscillators in one of these generators so you can coax two notes out of it simultaneously although you will be missing some of the modulation power. So basically yes, it is monophonic.

  • I think Im going to sample this entire video and put in my octattrack :)

  • @aikighost Thanks! But no need to sample, I've put it up on my SoundCloud page, no links allowed here so go look for 7thdansound over there and you shall find!

  • Hey there, what kind of scope are you using? I'd like to get into scoping my stuff. Thanks.

  • @spindizzyman It's a Hung Chang scope I got cheap a while back. Analog and crude but I like it. Until it broke on me that is :( I have to find me a new one as I have no scope fixing skills whatsoever...

  • @7thDanSound Thank you!

  • @7thDanSound Thanx for the quick response.Much appreciated!

  • @kevinnowhow I recently got a 292e and 281e to complement the 259e. I also have a 258v on loan since some time. See my later movies for more on those :)

Compatible with euro, well that depends. If you mean cable wise there's remedies for that, if you mean voltage wise, well sure but still, there's remedies for that too. I would, however, not try to mix the Buchla. It's a thing of it's own and should be used as such. At least that's my experience.

  • What other modules are you using?I'm asking 'cause the 259e is not directly compatible with a eurorack for example...
