Bonsoir and welcome to the Sofitel Brisbane Central Candle Ritual,

After sunset and on a daily basis we celebrate the passage from day to night and create a magnifique ambiance for guest.

In 1625 in Paris, under the rain of King Louis XIV, Gabriel Nicolas De La Reynie was nominated by the Prime Minister, Colbert, as first General of police of Paris.

Gabriel was nominated to implement public lighting in Paris, to bring safety in the streets at night and allow a time for socializing. Street lanterns were light after sunset on every street of Paris. From this time onwards Paris is famous for "Ville de Lumière" or city of lights.

The Sofitel Brisbane Central candle ritual is our way of signifying and paying homage to Paris the beautiful city of lights.
