I love how they hover, like helicopters, in midair, trying to intimidate each other off of their perch. These truly are 'rats with wings', as they tend to run in packs and drive off most of the other birds to eat the stuff that falls out on the ground.
I currently put just as much food on the grass and in other feeders so that the others have half a chance at eating.

  • I'm not sure, I haven't been on any of the other islands lately....and I haven't had time to go to any parks lately, so I can't say

Looked in the Audubon birds of Hawaii book and they are also on Hawaii, Maui, Kauai. They are "nuisances" in urban areas.

  • Are they actually on every island? Are they in the parks of the major cities, i.e. Honolulu?

  • I love the feeder videos!

    More! More!

  • i have never seen so many birds at one time on a bird feeding.
