Santa Monica Muscle Beach Traveling Rings 1980'S

9 year old Kelly swinging on the beach. Since the closure of Santa Monica Muscle Beach in 1959 the spark was kept alive by a new group elite acrobats, and gymnist congregated at this part of the pacific. Russ Saunders a pionner of Muscle Beach since the late 30's gave the city an idea to built the traveling rings so people from all walks of life can come here an participated and be part of the Muscle Beach culture and in the early 60's the traveling rings were built so everyone can enjoy this new sport without having to compete with others. Finally after many years the city re-dedicated Muscle Beach in 1989 and a new set of traveling rings were built in 1990
