Part of a possible on-going series in which I talk about individual aspects of faith and belief and how they have affected my beliefs. What I believe in is a very complicated entity and covers many aspects. I consider myself to be a Humanist by faith. Atheism isn't really a declaration of belief rather a declaration of unbelief, and therefore as significant as saying one is not an Astrologer.

In this video, I talk about the Christian concept of Heaven and Hell, and why it has been one of the contributing factors to my ever-increasing unbelief.

  • “They will long to leave the Fire, but never will they leave there from; and theirs will be a lasting torment.” (Quran 5:37)

“And they will never leave of the Fire.” (Quran 2:167)

“Surely, those who disbelieve and did wrong; God will not forgive them, nor will He guide them to any way except the way of Hell, to dwell therein forever.” (Quran 4:168-169)

“Surely, God has cursed the disbelievers, and has prepared for them a flaming Fire wherein they will abide for ever.” (Quran 33:64)

  • @imzee786 Thank for letting us all know just how hideously immoral your God and your religion is. Truly the religion of peace, populated as it is by people with such a willingness to spread hatred amongst others with aplomb.

  • The very idea of punishment for all eternity is absolutely insane. Who would willingly want to worship a God who created a place such as hell? Bigoted believers usually bleat " Oh God doesn't send unbelievers to hell. They choose to go there"

That's absurd. Who in their right mind would choose to suffer eternal torture? Anyway it was God who created hell in the first place. All part of his loving plan for the human race I suppose.

  • @imzee786 Islam- the religion of love and peace? Lol

  • Your are referring protestant theology which is full of misunderstandings, study the Catholic theology and you will see that is contrary to some of the protestant legations that you have referred.

  • I don't remember who (hopefully one of you does and will say), but it's been said "There can be no justice so long as laws are absolute."

I would draw on this philosophy to say that there can be no god so long as anything is absolute. Things that are absolute are, by nature, beyond the alterative capacity of any force (if they could be altered, they wouldn't be absolute).

You can either have absolute punishment or an omni-whatever god, but logically you can't have both.

  • The concept of Heaven and Hell breaks down in our own country when you consider that many people who commit crimes come from utterly horrendous upbringings. They've literally never known any different. I know of 2 boys that had to fight for scraps of food to survive when they were 3 and 4. They have been in care but understandably have big emotional issues.

It is not infeasible to imagine that one of them may go off the rails. If a hell existed they would be punished for their upbringing.

  • This video is awesome!! Good work buddy!

  • Is it an injustice to call some religions pathetic? :/
