@ModernMusicSucks69 get either a strat (or if you are low on money a squier) or a gibson hollow body electric.

o and eric clapton i love his style, again thanks for the help and great video love the way you teach

i love your videos and am about to actually buy my first electric and was wondering if i could get some advise on what to get, now ive been playing for about a year maybe a little more and i really like that old bb king style blues and buddy guy stuff, but i also like the classic rock of the beatles who are my faveorit band (excues my spelling) and also like jimi hendrix and stuff like that so i was wondering if you or anyone can help me pick a good one out. thank you and again great video

@frastajr some are though. hotter pickups usually
-
@bluesguitarunleashed dont forget he also dimmed the SGs tone controlls.
-
On a Fender Strat, the middle pickup is NOT reverse wound. It may be on the Suhr.

Awesome lesson. You have a great tone in both this video and the Les Paul tone video and I was wondering how you had the EQ set up on your amp for both videos? I'd guess that you like to change the EQ between the different guitars given the difference in tone between them, but you tell me?

I just discover your channel and i love your lessons: Explanations are clear and interesting and the sound you have is ear candy. This Suhr sure sounds good (say that fast) !
@shinermatt - Yes, the neck wood does affect the tone for sure, though not quite as much as the body wood. The maple fingerboard is going to be a little bit brighter in the upper mid range and the rosewood neck will be a little mellower sounding. I generally prefer the feel of rosewood so I use it, though I like the sound of maple as well.

The "woman tone" is basically the mid to late 60's stuff where he was playing a Gibson SG through an old Marshall... often called the Bluesbreaker. His tone was really dark and heavily overdriven. I've had the pleasure of playing a cranked up bluesbreaker on a couple of occasions and it is bordering on a religious experience :)
