Beyond a doubt, Yonge and St. Clair has long been one of Toronto's most desirable established residential neighborhoods.
Positioned amidst Toronto's majestic communities of Forest Hill, Rosedale and Muir Park, sits an exclusive enclave of the city's leading condominium developments.
The established luxury developments of 70 Rosehill, 33 Jackes, Granite Place, 1 Deer Park Crescent, among others, sets the stage for the newest generation of "true luxury" developments, 33 Delisle, The Carlyle, and Park Avenue.
Actually, in a market that has not seen a great deal of "true luxury" development over the past few years we were pleasantly surprised to have our search of the Yonge and St. Clair, referred to as "up town" by Torontonians, narrow the field down to three developments that virtually share the same terrain.
33 Delisle has indisputably become one of the city's number one addresses for immediate occupancy with Park Avenue scheduled for occupancy in March 2003 (delayed from its original occupancy date of September 2002) is fast matching it. The Carlyle, the latest luxury residential development, located immediately west of Park Avenue and 33 Delisle rounds out an inventory of quality residences.
In this Special Feature, we're visiting Park Avenue, an intimate collection of just 54 residences on the north side of St. Clair just west of Yonge St. Park Avenue holds a commanding presence in this unmatched location and reflects the highest expectations and tastes of owners.
These luxurious homes are being built into an existing brownstone structure boasting 14" think walls reflective of New Yorks Park Avenue homes. The building is being totally gutted with absolutely everything, including elevators replaced to deliver Toronto's most prestigious residential address. Rooms are being renovated with stunning detailing and appointments.
Inspired by today's fashion of sparse contemporary styling, combined with elements of New York Art Deco, Park Avenue will be a step above the traditional. The proportions of the rooms are generous. Standard finishes are luxurious and are "upgrades" almost anywhere else in the city. Every suite has soaring 10-foot ceilings. Elegant wood flooring is standard in the livingrooms and dens and the bathrooms showcase luxurious marble or limestone tiles. Windowsills are deep and dramatic French doors open onto Juliet balconies.
Today there are only a couple suites along with a few excellent penthouse suites remaining. The penthouses are all new construction added to the roof of the existing building.
In every generation or era of residential condos there is always only a limited number of developments that qualify as "true luxury". I've been involved with true luxury residences ever since the early 1980's working with Toronto's Reichmann Family on the prestigeous Queen's Quay Residences. I have no hesitation in giving Park Avenue my full endorsement as simply one of the Best.
