I also love this song and also the montage of photos. In my car all I have is music by Julie Andrews, and this is one of my favorites. She is number one in my heart.

Sounds like Mary Poppins singing In the bleak midwinter... very expressive!

The last verse is just about perfect theology for everyday living.

One of my favorite carols, and sung by my favorite actress, entertainer. Sweet voice that I enjoy while at home or in my car. Still bothers me at times to think that stupid doctors ruined that voice. But, when she sings now although in a low range, the quality is still there. Thanks for this video!

This is one of the greatest time that she was able to sing it so well!!

All-time favorite Christmas Song: In the Bleak Midwinter by Julie Andrews; All-time favorite Movie: Sound of Music with Julie Andrews & Christopher Plummer.
From a life-time Julie Andrews Fan (for 40+years & counting) -- Thank you, Julie, for the blessing of your amazing talent!
Julie's perfect diction suits these lyrics by Christina Rosetti perfectly, and I have been impressed listening to her work on Christmas songs, that the greater the lyric she is given to sing, the more blessed the result. She just came out with a book on poetry, and I would love to hear her read any poem. I gave her one of mine in 1987 when I asked her to record lullabies, and next year Hallmark put out her Xmas album in which she did a European Lullaby section. It is great, I love it on tape.

@Alandix Thank you for such a great comment! I still think that there's no one singing Christmas songs like Julie... it's like she embodies all the spirit of the season when singing the songs. And in case you want to know, together the book she released "Songs, Poems and Lullabyes" there's a cd of Julie and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, reading some of their favourite poems from the book, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised, and it makes for a perfect christmas gift :)

A lovely hymn, beautiful words by Christina Rossetti and music by Gustav Holst. The Julie Andrews montage along with it is a bit weird, however...

@rthompsn2007 Why weird? Because it's a Christmas song? When I made it, and I'm not very good at video things, I intended it to be a sort of tribute to Julie singing...and this happens to be one of my favourite Christmas songs...but I can understand why you'd think it's weird (even if I don't agree!! ) thanks for commenting though

A timeless, gorgeous arrangement and rendition of deep Christmas message and song. Julie was a true songbird. How blessed her songs have left us!

You are so very right! How blessed we are to have Julie Andrews sharing such gift with us? And who says Julie Andrews says a very few others... not that many people achieved what Julie did. We truly are blessed not only through her songs, but I'd say through everything she's done and still does, and still gives us. We don't have enough words or tributes to thank her!
