This was the office site for LCARA (Love Canal Area Revitalization Agency), this was the organization responsible for selling abandoned homes to re-inhabit the neighborhood to the north of the canal. (about 1991-1992)

Today this serves as a senior citizen recreation facility, and also is used for summer recreation programs for youth. This building is interesting, totally hexagons, even the parking lots!!

I parked on 92nd Street while at LaSalle Park and 91st Street pool. Nice neighborhood! Imagine that is what 96th through 102nd Streets would still look like today between Colvin and Frontier, if it weren't for the evacuation and subsequent demolition.

One of the sad ironies of Love Canal is that it is located within one of the nicest areas to live in NF, NY.

Wow!! TWO YEARS after this is uploaded, a copyright claim was made about one of the songs playing in the background. YouTube has removed the audio track. Guess you have to make sure a radio is turned off when recording a video, since a camera microphone will record music. These copyright search people really need to find something better to do with their time... I made all of zero cents profit from this video being here two years.

My family lived there and still live a few miles from there. Everytime I visit, I take a ride around the area. Sad realization in American history.

The Love Canal fiasco is a real scar in American History. It was bad enough that waste was buried in the ground with no containment system, but it was worse that the city of Niagara Falls knew damn well that there was waste buried there and still allowed a school to be built on top of it (with a playground on a depressed area where the chemicals formed black puddles the kids would play in) and a neighborhood around it. Totally awful thing, God bless the people who lived there...

you should have seen it back in 1994.most of the homes were still up and i actaully saw old stuff in the windows on the driveways.it was like stepping back in a time warp from the 70's.really creepy.now its all different in fact i showed someone back around the time you made this vid.wow it changed in the past like 12 years.

Love Canal is just unbelievable, and those pople didn't even know what they where living on, who builds houses on contaminated land? Weird black puddles in your lawn? The school knew it was built on toxic waste, if my school knew toxic waste was nearby they are so safety concience it'd be shut and evacuated immediately. 56% of child births had defects, its insane. Blows my mind.
