Michael McDonald (one of my all time heroes) is brilliant here... Not forgetting Freddie Washington... Please check out the Brilliant groove he laid down with Joe Sample doing 'Streetlife'

@1960COB Saw this same show a few weeks before this recording, Keith Cralock's feel was breathtaking. Just a master. I wish I could play live with him, but just listening is a joy.

Best track ever using best ever voice. But I'd still go for Donny's voice given the choice.

@StevenCharlesJazz Well said. If the creative rearranging works (like it does here), it adds a different dimension while not losing the song's original form. As I watch this, I can't help but wonder what would have happened had McDonald stayed with Fagen & Becker. I guess we can just enjoy the song.
By the way, I love how this video ended. Fagen giving his best Yogi Berra- "deja vu, all over again"- priceless.

these was gods at play, mere mortals we. PREACH IT!!!!!!!
I think fans need to understand that musicians, being creative creatures, would rot on the vine, if 35 years later, they toured, only to re-create what was a performance & arrangement that was THEN,
This is now, and creative people don't like tracing & re-tracing their tracks ad infinitum.
For those who wish to hear songs EXACTLY as they were when first recorded, that's what records, CDs, and now mp3s are for....

Hey Kniteflyte, or whatever your stupid name is, you must be a really good singer yourself to be able to comment about Michael Macdonalds voice in such a derogatory manner. Somehow I just guess that you aren't. Ant Rivers - keep up the positive comments, and don't you dare lighten up!
