This sweet track on TMG-843 released in February 1973 is significant for two reasons, it was the very last record by Martha Reeves on Motown sadly, and was not released in the US at all, only in the UK. JOHN

  • I was In Viet-Nam and this one of those sit alone and cry records. This along with "The Players He'll be Back". So many of my friends that sat and listened to this song now lay in the Gardens of Stone Never to return. Thanks for the memories. I shall never for get them and the good times we had. WONDERFUL!

  • @crazyhourse0 thanks very much for your comments it may be long ago but you never forget things like that do you, and Motown has always had that affect on me, I was only young then, even a DJ! Martha is amazing that she still tours around as well as being a city councilor in Detroit!! I'm here in the UK!

  • This is a great song that should have been a major it hit for Martha !The pic you have on the front page is not Martha Reeves and The Vandellas but it is the Vevelettes .

  • Thanks for your information tshawn1 the picture is from Ian Levine's collection I think, I usually use my oldest 1960's ones but I wanted to show that this was a later recording. Nice to know you liked the track, that's the main thing isn't it?

  • Loved this song for 30 years and more , just fantastic thanks for sharing,

  • Haunting & mesmerizing, this classic from Martha should have been huge but truly "No One Was There" at Motown or the radio stations and classics like this great one slipped through the cracks...great now many can enjoy this gem over and over and "Black Magic" is classic ...Bravo Martha!!! What an awesome voice!

  • This was just a great song--too bad the USA didn't get it. Motown was distrarcted when this came out I guess.

  • Around the time this album was released Ms Reeves was just getting over some mental difficulties, as well as personell problems , so she , nor Motown could promote this album properly
